Albufeira, Algarve – Portugal

With Steve back on track we decided to check out one of the local golf courses and hit some balls at the range. Booked in for a game tomorrow but the driving range was closed.

Googled a public driving range and found this one in Albufeira – wanted to check this area out so off we go. Got to Rua do Golfe but it was the wrong Rua do Golfe so eventually got to the correct one only to discover it was closed. A few places close down on a Monday in the winter months. Winter – it was 28 degrees in the shade today so I’m interested to see what summer has to offer!

We were pretty hungry by this stage so headed to the waterfront. Found a little restaurant overlooking the beach and had lunch. Another beautiful spot.

Albufeira is another very popular tourist destination. It is classed as a city in the Algarve with a population of 22,000. Trade with the North Africans garnered the city it’s name, which is derived from the Arabic Al-Buhayra meaning The Lagoon. 5 million tourists come into the Algarve region every year.

It is reasonably quiet in these tourist spots at the moment which is really nice as you can wander along the streets and the beaches easily.

About SUNGRL

This blog was originally set up to share our 9 month adventure around Europe and the USA with friends and family in 2014. On returning to NZ in January 2015 I decided to carry it on so I could continue to share any future travel adventures - it has become my electronic travel diary. I hope you enjoy and get inspired to visit some of the wonderful places we have visited.
