About

This blog was originally set up to share our 9 month adventure around Europe and the USA with friends and family in 2014. On returning to NZ in January 2015 I decided to carry it on so I could continue to share our future travel adventures – it has become our electronic travel diary. I hope you enjoy and get inspired to visit some of the wonderful places we have visited.

Hi, wondered if you could help? I read with interest your Kopiko ride, sounds like a real challenge. I hear there are alot of hills. I’m new to Bikepacking and I saw your rear Bike rack. It looks like it provides good support for the seat bag. My bike is smaller and has less clearance between the seat post and the top of the tyre. so though a rack to prop it up would be good. What make is yours? I can see a similar rack called Thule from Torpedo 7 but still looks a little bulky. I need a rack that is slim and light. Thanks very much. Peter

Hi Peter, sorry for the delay in replying. My rear rack is a Thule and is lightweight while still being sturdy. You can adjust the height etc so quite versatile. Bikepacking is great fun and a good challenge. I hope you get out there and enjoy it. Cheers Rachel

Hinthwre. I am researching routes for Kopimo and have almost got everything sorted. However I notice in your blog that you spent night one in Purangi. I can’t anywhere fond the details of that place. Do you have a contact number?

      Hi Glenn

We stayed in an old school house on a couple’s property. Give Laurel a call on 06 756 5569 to see if she is still offering the place. It was a great spot and Laurel and her husband were great hosts.

      Cheers
      Rachel

Thanks very much for response. I will contact Laurel. I am a keen orchardist in my spare time, looks like the place has a nice orchard as well which will be great to look at.
